Burton Robson has 30 years of marine experience as a Captain, Marine Tech and Compliance Consultant:
- Insured Accredited Marine Surveyor in good standing with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS).
- Certified Advisor in Marine Systems, Electrical Standards and Corrosion Standards with the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC).
- Member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
Active throughout New England, Capt Robson's clients include individual boat buyers, leading yacht buyer brokers and industry organizations including the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Captain Burton Robson holds a USCG 100-ton Mariner Credential with STCW Certification and is a US Coast Guard Approved Captain Instructor & Examiner with the Atlantic Captains Academy. He is the Lead Captain Certification Instructor for Boston Harbor Cruises, the nation's largest privately held passenger vessel company. Other clients include major Yacht Clubs, the Newport Naval Base, Bass Pro at Foxboro Patriot Place and Vineyard Wind, USA's first major offshore windgen project.
Burton has decades of experience as a Charter and Delivery Captain making landfalls in over 36 countries. Burton has worked for leading power yacht and sailing monohull and catamaran companies in the Caribbean and US. He is a current American Sailing Association (ASA) Advanced Instructor teaching Ocean Passagemaking and Celestial Navigation from Newport to Bermuda and the Virgin Islands or return.
For almost a decade, Burton also managed the East Boston boatyard for Boston Sailing Center and holds credentials for hoisting operations and OSHA compliance. Burton managed a variety of fleet projects, including: initial commissioning of new vessels; maintenance, upgrades and installations of marine systems; fiberglass and gel repairs; Awlgripping and other finishings; diesel engines, drive trains and saildrives; standing and running rigging; and USCG, EPA and ABYC compliance.
As part of his commitment to marine industry professionalism, Burton regularly attends educational seminars to constantly upgrade his knowledge of current standards and the latest technologies and techniques.
